The PRO-DS is suitable for both beginner and experienced aquarists. Its primary advantages are its full-size dual-stage architecture, expanded pressure range, dual-gauge instrumentation, and modular scalability rather than a specific aquarium size or experience level.

Why Choose the GLA PRO-DS?

The PRO-DS is GLA’s flagship modular dual-stage regulator platform. It combines two-stage pressure regulation, an expanded 0–140 PSI output range, dual-gauge pressure monitoring, and a scalable manifold system designed to support evolving planted aquarium installations.

  • Full-Size Dual-Stage Architecture: Designed for refined working-pressure control and long-term stability
  • Expanded Pressure Range: Adjustable output from 0–140 PSI provides additional flexibility for higher-pressure applications
  • Dual-Gauge Monitoring: Separate gauges provide visual reference for cylinder pressure and regulator working pressure
  • Modular Manifold System: Expand from one independently controlled aquarium to as many as six
  • Precision CO2 Adjustment: Each manifold block includes its own precision needle valve
  • Integrated Flow Monitoring: Each manifold block includes a bubble counter for convenient visual CO2 monitoring
  • Automatic Operation: Integrated solenoid allows CO2 injection to be controlled using a timer or compatible controller
  • System Protection: Integrated pressure relief valve provides an additional level of protection

Dual-Stage Pressure Regulation

Dual-stage regulators reduce cylinder pressure through two separate pressure-reduction stages. This architecture is designed to provide increased working-pressure stability as cylinder pressure changes over time and to reduce the likelihood of pressure increases as the CO2 cylinder approaches depletion.

The PRO-DS combines this dual-stage architecture with an expanded working-pressure range for aquarists who want maximum configuration flexibility from a single regulator platform.

  • Two-stage pressure reduction
  • Stable and controllable working pressure
  • Reduced likelihood of end-of-tank pressure spikes
  • Expanded 0–140 PSI output capability

Precision Control & Automation

The PRO-DS-1 includes one independently adjustable manifold output equipped with a precision needle valve and integrated bubble counter. Additional compatible manifold blocks may be added later for independently controlled multi-aquarium CO2 distribution.

The integrated electric solenoid allows CO2 injection to be automatically coordinated with the aquarium photoperiod using a standard timer or compatible controller.

Dual gauges provide separate visual references for cylinder pressure and regulator working pressure. The working-pressure gauge is used when setting regulator output pressure, while the cylinder-pressure gauge provides information about pressure within the connected CO2 cylinder.

Bubble rate should be treated as an aquarium-specific reference rather than a universal measurement of dissolved CO2. Actual CO2 requirements vary with aquarium volume, plant mass, lighting, circulation, diffusion efficiency, and surface agitation.

Modular Manifold System

The PRO-DS-1 includes a single-block modular manifold designed for one independently controlled aquarium. Compatible manifold blocks can be added as your aquarium system grows, allowing multiple aquariums to share a single regulator and CO2 cylinder while maintaining separate CO2 adjustment for each output.

  • 1 Block: 1 independently controlled aquarium
  • 2 Blocks: 2 independently controlled aquariums
  • 3 Blocks: 3 independently controlled aquariums
  • 4 Blocks: 4 independently controlled aquariums
  • 5 Blocks: 5 independently controlled aquariums
  • 6 Blocks: 6 independently controlled aquariums

Each manifold block includes its own precision needle valve and integrated bubble counter, allowing every aquarium to be adjusted independently.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the PRO-DS different from the DS-Mini?
Both the PRO-DS and DS-Mini use dual-stage pressure regulation and modular manifold systems. The PRO-DS is GLA’s full-size dual-stage platform with a 0–140 PSI output range and separate gauges for cylinder pressure and working pressure. The DS-Mini provides dual-stage regulation in a smaller overall footprint with a 0–60 PSI output range and a single working-pressure gauge.

What is the benefit of dual-stage regulation?
Dual-stage regulation reduces cylinder pressure through two pressure-reduction stages, providing additional working-pressure stability as cylinder pressure changes and reducing the likelihood of end-of-tank pressure increases.

Can the PRO-DS-1 run more than one aquarium?
Yes. The PRO-DS-1 includes one manifold block for one independently controlled aquarium, but compatible manifold blocks can be added to expand the regulator to as many as six independently controlled aquarium outputs.

Can I expand the manifold later?
Yes. Compatible GLA modular manifold blocks may be added as your aquarium system grows. When expanding an existing regulator, select the manifold generation that matches your regulator because G2 and G3 manifold blocks are not cross-compatible.

Why does the PRO-DS have a 0–140 PSI output range?
The expanded output-pressure range provides additional configuration flexibility for applications that require higher working pressure. Most aquarium installations will not require the maximum available pressure, and working pressure should always be adjusted to the requirements and operating limits of the connected CO2 equipment.

What do the two gauges monitor?
One gauge monitors CO2 cylinder pressure and the second monitors regulator working pressure. This allows both pressures to be viewed independently during setup and operation.

Can I use a diffuser, inline atomizer, or CO2 reactor?
Yes. The adjustable 0–140 PSI output allows the PRO-DS to support a wide range of planted aquarium CO2 delivery methods when operated within the pressure and flow requirements of the selected equipment.

What size aquarium can I use the PRO-DS on?
The PRO-DS is not restricted to a specific aquarium volume. Appropriate CO2 delivery depends on plant demand, lighting, circulation, diffusion method, surface agitation, and overall system configuration. Its modular architecture also allows one regulator to support multiple aquariums when configured appropriately.

Is the PRO-DS suitable for beginners?
Yes. Dual-stage regulators are not inherently more difficult to operate during normal aquarium use. The PRO-DS is suitable for both beginner and experienced aquarists who want premium dual-stage pressure regulation, expanded working-pressure capability, and long-term modular flexibility.

Choosing the Right GLA CO2 Platform

The GLA GRO is our streamlined single-stage platform for aquarists seeking compact, precise CO2 control. The DS-Mini combines dual-stage pressure regulation with a compact modular design, while the PRO-DS is our full-size dual-stage platform with expanded pressure range, dual-gauge instrumentation, and modular configuration options.

Each platform is designed for a different installation style and level of system flexibility.

    Facebook recommendation was right!

Posted by Amanda Jones on 2nd Feb 2026

Per a few Facebook groups who read my plea for help with my crappy Fzone regulator a bunch of members advised to go with GLA, and let me tell you, it’s premium grade vs the cheap crap I wasted money on. It’s true what they say, buy once cry once and by gosh this co2 system is very nice. You notice it immediately upon taking it out of the box. Thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Noah at GLA who helped me decide on this. Bought a few other bits and couldn’t be more pleased. It’s a high quality regulator with easy operation that is indeed buttery smooth!

There is only one premium co2 system and it’s GLA.

Posted by Miguel Nostra on 17th Jan 2026

I’ll say it again, there is only one premium co2 system and it’s GLA. You can take your time looking at Co2art,Fzone, Chihiros or any of those other brands and they all have the same thing in common. All are exactly the same just different colors. They should be embarrassed honestly. GLA is the OG original in co2 delivery because they are the pioneers of this solenoid system. If anybody knows how a solenoid and manifold should be built, it’s GLA. Much better construction and materials used in all aspects of the build of the regulator. The needle valve is rock solid and built to last you forever and what I like most is everything is serviceable at home. Now I know why the warranty is amazing. If you don’t use this to hammer nails into wood it will last you forever. GLA will always have your back with support because they recently freshened up my old regulator from 2008. They sent it back looking brand new I was so happy. Thank you GLA and staff for always being there for my scapes. Cheers, Miguel.

Ain’t no substitutions for the best.

Posted by Flynn Durham on 13th Jan 2026

Don’t settle for less or cheaper options, you’ll just end up later here buying this. GLA outperforms Co2Art or Fzone. There’s no substitution for high quality and those fake brands don’t even compare.

There is no better co2 system on the market.

Posted by Cameron James on 26th Dec 2025

You can buy a cheap regulator anywhere, but why? People like to think these Fzone regulators are great. I’m here to tell you they are not and they will waste days of your life with constant adjusting. So then you thought CO2Art was a better choice just to find out it’s the same exact garbage just a different color and even worse because it cost me more. Yes, that was me and my wife is very pissed off at me for all of it. I told her that GLA was my last one and if it doesn’t work out I’ll quit the hobby. Well, fast forward 6 maybe 8 weeks now since I’ve installed and haven’t even touched it, although I did dust it off with a microfiber cloth. I did that because I was so proud of my GLA regulator. I felt accomplished like I finally did something right. The build quality of GLA is a night and day difference from these knock off brands. The precision of delivery is unbelievably steady. No psi adjusting no needle valve adjusting no nothing. Just rock steady. My wife doesn’t see me yelling at the regulator in frustration anymore, there is peace now at water change day. The day I dreaded most because that’s when I’m investigating crap the most. Now, it’s just peace and doing other projects and no troubleshooting hours wasted. Thank you GLA for bringing peace to my household and making a fantastic product.

Sooo much nicer than my old junk.

Posted by Christina Stevens on 26th Nov 2025

After a complete crash in my scape I decided to rebuild and swap my co2 system out for GLA. My current co2 system wasn’t even old it was only 4 months old Co2art Pro SE. it turned into absolute dookie after only a few months. The bubble counter broke, then the psi adjustment knob fell completely off. My husband was looking at it and he noticed the stem that connects to the cylinder wasn’t even installed correctly. The hole where it threaded into the body was off by a 1/4” or so. I never noticed but sure as heck it was angled all weird. This GLA regulator has been perfect right out of the box.

Always top shelf with GLA CO2 regulators.

Posted by Bob Evan’s on 26th Nov 2025

This is the absolute best of the best in co2 equipment. My local fish shop only had Co2art and a few other brands. After having my hands on them giving them a good once over I chose not to go with those. Even the guy at the store told me to buy GLA. I forgot see GLA in action at Aquashella, abd after seeing it and playing around with it I knew it was the one. It’s do much larger, heavier and the function of the needle valve in its control was much nicer. Just nicer all around with that cool solenoid system. So glad I bought this!

    Impressive co2 regulator.

Posted by Victor Mendez on 1st Nov 2025

By recommendation from a Facebook group I took the plunge to replace my Ultum Nature Systems regulator. I was going to replace it with Fzone and noticed both were exactly the same. Not sure what’s up with that but what a waste of money those things are. Looks were very deceiving. What looked nice turned out to be recyclable trash. This GLA DS is 100% leaps and bounds in quality and precision of delivery. Couldn’t be happier with GLA.
