Its primary advantages are its full-size dual-stage architecture, two independently controlled outputs, expanded pressure range, dual-gauge instrumentation, and future modular expandability rather than a specific aquarium size or experience level.

Why Choose the GLA PRO-DS-2?

The PRO-DS-2 combines GLA’s flagship dual-stage regulator platform with a two-block modular manifold, providing independent CO2 control for two aquariums from a single regulator and CO2 cylinder.

  • Full-Size Dual-Stage Architecture: Designed for refined working-pressure control and long-term stability
  • Two Independent CO2 Outputs: Each manifold block provides separate adjustment for its connected aquarium
  • Expanded Pressure Range: Adjustable output from 0–140 PSI provides additional flexibility for higher-pressure applications
  • Dual-Gauge Monitoring: Separate gauges provide visual reference for cylinder pressure and regulator working pressure
  • Modular Manifold System: Expand from two independently controlled aquariums to as many as six
  • Precision CO2 Adjustment: Each manifold block includes its own precision needle valve
  • Integrated Flow Monitoring: Each manifold block includes a bubble counter for convenient visual CO2 monitoring
  • Automatic Operation: Integrated solenoid allows CO2 injection to be controlled using a timer or compatible controller
  • System Protection: Integrated pressure relief valve provides an additional level of protection

Dual-Stage Pressure Regulation

Dual-stage regulators reduce cylinder pressure through two separate pressure-reduction stages. This architecture is designed to provide increased working-pressure stability as cylinder pressure changes over time and to reduce the likelihood of pressure increases as the CO2 cylinder approaches depletion.

The PRO-DS combines dual-stage regulation with an expanded working-pressure range for aquarists who want maximum configuration flexibility from a single regulator platform.

  • Two-stage pressure reduction
  • Stable and controllable working pressure
  • Reduced likelihood of end-of-tank pressure spikes
  • Expanded 0–140 PSI output capability

Precision Control & Automation

The PRO-DS-2 includes two independently adjustable manifold outputs. Each output is equipped with its own precision needle valve and integrated bubble counter, allowing CO2 delivery to be tuned separately for each connected aquarium.

The integrated electric solenoid allows CO2 injection to be automatically coordinated with the aquarium photoperiod using a standard timer or compatible controller.

Dual gauges provide separate visual references for cylinder pressure and regulator working pressure. The working-pressure gauge is used when setting regulator output pressure, while the cylinder-pressure gauge provides information about pressure within the connected CO2 cylinder.

Bubble rate should be treated as an aquarium-specific reference rather than a universal measurement of dissolved CO2. Actual CO2 requirements vary with aquarium volume, plant mass, lighting, circulation, diffusion efficiency, and surface agitation.

2-Block Modular Manifold System

The PRO-DS-2 includes a two-block modular manifold designed to provide two independently controlled CO2 outputs from a single regulator and CO2 cylinder.

Each manifold block includes its own precision needle valve and integrated bubble counter, allowing each aquarium to be adjusted independently even when the aquariums have different CO2 requirements.

  • 1 Block: 1 independently controlled aquarium
  • 2 Blocks: 2 independently controlled aquariums
  • 3 Blocks: 3 independently controlled aquariums
  • 4 Blocks: 4 independently controlled aquariums
  • 5 Blocks: 5 independently controlled aquariums
  • 6 Blocks: 6 independently controlled aquariums

The PRO-DS-2 arrives configured with two manifold blocks. Compatible blocks may be added later if additional aquarium outputs are required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the PRO-DS different from the DS-Mini?
Both the PRO-DS and DS-Mini use dual-stage pressure regulation and modular manifold systems. The PRO-DS is GLA’s full-size dual-stage platform with a 0–140 PSI output range and separate gauges for cylinder pressure and working pressure. The DS-Mini provides dual-stage regulation in a smaller overall footprint with a 0–60 PSI output range and a single working-pressure gauge.

What is the benefit of dual-stage regulation?
Dual-stage regulation reduces cylinder pressure through two pressure-reduction stages, providing additional working-pressure stability as cylinder pressure changes and reducing the likelihood of end-of-tank pressure increases.

How many aquariums can the PRO-DS-2 run?
The PRO-DS-2 includes two manifold blocks and is configured to independently control two aquariums. Each output has its own precision needle valve and bubble counter.

Can I expand beyond two aquariums later?
Yes. Compatible GLA modular manifold blocks may be added as your aquarium system grows, allowing expansion to as many as six independently controlled outputs. When expanding an existing regulator, select the manifold generation that matches your regulator because G2 and G3 manifold blocks are not cross-compatible.

Do both aquariums receive the same amount of CO2?
Not necessarily. Each manifold block has its own precision needle valve, allowing CO2 flow to be adjusted independently for each aquarium. This is especially useful when connected aquariums have different volumes, plant mass, circulation patterns, or CO2 requirements.

Can the two aquariums use different CO2 delivery methods?
Yes. Each output may be connected to a compatible diffuser, inline atomizer, or reactor provided the connected equipment is operated within its required pressure and flow range. Working pressure is shared by the regulator, while CO2 flow is adjusted independently at each needle valve.

Why does the PRO-DS have a 0–140 PSI output range?
The expanded output-pressure range provides additional configuration flexibility for applications that require higher working pressure. Most aquarium installations will not require the maximum available pressure, and working pressure should always be adjusted to the requirements and operating limits of the connected CO2 equipment.

What do the two gauges monitor?
One gauge monitors CO2 cylinder pressure and the second monitors regulator working pressure. This allows both pressures to be viewed independently during setup and operation.

Is the PRO-DS-2 suitable for beginners?
Yes. Dual-stage regulators are not inherently more difficult to operate during normal aquarium use. The PRO-DS-2 is suitable for both beginner and experienced aquarists who want independent CO2 control for two aquariums, premium dual-stage pressure regulation, and future modular flexibility.

Choosing the Right GLA CO2 Platform

The GLA GRO is our streamlined single-stage platform for aquarists seeking compact, precise CO2 control. The DS-Mini combines dual-stage pressure regulation with a compact modular design, while the PRO-DS is our full-size dual-stage platform with expanded pressure range, dual-gauge instrumentation, and modular configuration options.

Within the PRO-DS family, the regulator architecture remains the same while the included manifold configuration determines the number of independently controlled aquarium outputs. The PRO-DS-2 includes two manifold blocks for two aquariums.

    Big upgrade from Co2art.

Posted by Carmen Guthries on 21st Jan 2026

Many frustrations were had using Co2art. This has been such a blessing with GLA. Everyday it’s right where I left it. No fictions and no poor craftsmanship. My first Co2art regulator was warrantied out of the box. The alignment of everything was off by 1/4” making everything sit crooked. Then my second unit they sent would not hold bubble rate no matter how many times I adjust the needle valve or psi. Since setting up this GLA regulator it’s held steady since day one. I love the quality and fine needle valve precision. I’m a fan!

I’d never buy anything less than GLA

Posted by Justin Schumer on 26th Nov 2025

If you don’t know by now and you are reading my review you should know GLA is a premium brand. All the other brands are just knock offs and cheaply made. Why people choose that cheap junk like Co2art or Fzone is unbelievable. I’ve owned both those brands and they are total garbage. And for what you pay for those is even worse. It’s a night and day difference with GLA and I won’t use anything less for my aquascapes. Buy once cry once they say.

GLA co2 regulators are the only way to go.

Posted by Jamie Cosworth on 19th Oct 2025

I’ve owned quite a few knock off regulators like Fzone and UNS. Those two brands are exactly the same manufacturer with different branding. GLA set themselves apart when they invented this technology, and the regulator body is a beast in comparison to those two. Very well made and a precision needle valve is what you want and GLA delivers.

    Best of the very best.

Posted by Kyle Ripken on 24th Aug 2025

GLA is the panicle of co2 systems and this is my second regulator from GLA. I just gave my old one to my dad. This is even nicer than my old version and has been butter smooth everyday. No fooling around with nothing, it just does its job effortlessly. It’s like a trusty workhorse everyday.

This is undoubtedly the best when compared to the rest in the field.

Posted by Dr Brian Wolzcheck on 19th Jul 2025

You will be very pleased with the quality of this co2 regulator. It’s a higher quality regulator than Co2art, which I’ve replaced with this regulator. I quick notice you’ll see the body of the regulator is significantly larger. It’s much longer like what you would see with a lab grade dual stage. I know this detail because we use them with our co2 lasers at my practice. You can not only notice its quality construction but the delivery in precision is there. Very satisfied with this co2 regulator and should have went to GLA to begin with. Thanks David for helping fix our situation. GLA is in a class of its own.

GLA is the pinnacle in co2 delivery systems.

Posted by Hector Vargas on 5th Jun 2025

I think this is my 3rd co2 regulator and I feel is my last. First two were knock offs of HLA’s work and while they put out co2 they didn’t do it with the level of accuracy I get from GLA. You just can’t compare these with the likes of Co2art or Fzone, those two are just generic as it gets. I still have them, and they will be listed on marketplace this week. GLA is top class gear and now I know why everybody recommends them.

Very easy to use and works great!

Posted by Meghan Grolley on 17th Mar 2025

So far I’m loving it. It’s super easy to install and use. I’m new to using C02 in my aquarium so when I first set it up I thought it was defective when I unplugged the solenoid and the bubbles didn’t stop immediately. But GLA customer support is excellent, I texted the customer support number to ask about it and they responded immediately and explained that it can take up to 5 minutes for the bubbles to slow down and stop after it’s unplugged. I appreciate their customer support as much as their great products!

    Top tier in co2 regulators.

Posted by Asher McDermitt on 7th Mar 2025

If you are reading my review it’s because you landed on aquascapers best co2 regulator. This isn’t bias, it’s just a fact. My original GLA regulator from 2007 would be working today except movers decided to “misplace it”. These guys the originator of this modular co2 regulator system. My old one was made of brass fittings. I watched GLA years ago develop this manifold system. Then as the knocks off copied them the cheap stuff started rolling out. I’ve seen them at my LFS and there is no comparison between GLA and the knock offs. You get precision quality and a big ol regulator body vs the janky flat body toy looking ones. I was honored to buy the upgraded dual stage manifold system. Best of the very best.

GLA is the very best in aquarium distribution.

Posted by Ben Moshe on 19th Feb 2025

Coming from a Co2art regulator I can confirm GLA is the premium brand. I’ve even used lesser quality than Co2art before that and they’ve all broken in short time, gave me issues with constant adjustments. Today I come to buy a second unit for our office tanks. Everything is higher quality, needle valves, solenoids everything. You’ll be glad you chose GLA.
