Why Choose the GLA GRO?

The GRO is designed around simplicity without sacrificing the precision components that matter in a pressurized planted aquarium CO2 system. It provides the essential control, automation, and protection required for dependable day-to-day CO2 operation without the larger footprint of a modular dual-stage regulator.

  • Compact Single-Stage Design: Streamlined configuration for clean, efficient installation
  • Precision CO2 Adjustment: Fine-control needle valve allows careful tuning of CO2 output
  • Automatic Operation: Integrated solenoid allows CO2 injection to be controlled by a timer or compatible controller
  • Integrated Flow Monitoring: Bubble counter provides a convenient visual reference for CO2 delivery
  • Backflow Protection: Integrated check valve helps protect the CO2 system from aquarium water backflow
  • System Protection: Integrated pressure relief valve provides an additional level of protection

Precision Control & Automation

The GLA GRO combines a precision needle valve, electric solenoid, and integrated bubble counter into a compact regulator assembly designed specifically for planted aquarium CO2 use.

The integrated working-pressure gauge provides a clear visual reference for regulator output pressure. The needle valve provides fine adjustment of CO2 flow, while the solenoid allows injection to be automatically coordinated with the aquarium photoperiod using a timer or compatible controller. The integrated bubble counter provides a convenient repeatable reference when tuning the system.

Bubble rate should be treated as an aquarium-specific reference rather than a universal CO2 measurement. Actual CO2 requirements vary with aquarium volume, plant mass, lighting, circulation, diffusion efficiency, and surface agitation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the GLA GRO a dual-stage regulator?
No. The GRO is a single-stage regulator designed around a compact and straightforward planted aquarium CO2 configuration. For aquarists who prefer dual-stage pressure regulation, GLA also offers the DS-Mini and PRO-DS regulator platforms.

Will the GRO work with standard refillable CO2 cylinders?
Yes. This model uses a CGA-320 connection for standard refillable CO2 cylinders used in the United States.

Can the GRO run more than one aquarium?
Yes. The optional GLA GRO CO2 Splitter can be added to provide independently adjustable CO2 outlets for multiple aquariums. For larger modular installations, a GLA DS-Mini or PRO-DS regulator may provide a more integrated expansion platform.

Can I use a diffuser, inline atomizer, or CO2 reactor?
Yes. The adjustable 0–70 PSI output allows the GRO to be configured with many planted aquarium CO2 delivery methods when operated within the pressure and flow requirements of the selected equipment.

What size aquarium can I use the GRO on?
The regulator itself is not limited to a specific aquarium volume. Appropriate CO2 delivery depends on plant demand, lighting, circulation, diffusion method, surface agitation, and overall system configuration. Larger or higher-demand systems may benefit from different diffusion equipment or one of GLA’s dual-stage regulator platforms depending on the installation.

Is the GRO suitable for someone new to pressurized CO2?
Yes. The GRO provides a straightforward pressurized CO2 platform while retaining precise adjustment, automatic solenoid control, integrated flow monitoring, and the component quality expected from GLA equipment.

Choosing the Right GLA CO2 Platform

The GLA GRO is our streamlined single-stage platform for aquarists seeking compact, precise CO2 control. The DS-Mini combines dual-stage pressure regulation with a compact modular design, while the PRO-DS is our full-size dual-stage platform with expanded pressure range, instrumentation, and modular configuration options.

Each platform is designed for a different installation style and level of system flexibility.

Heavy duty way better than my UNS regulator.

Posted by Sean McFarland on 5th Oct 2024

This regulator is so much better than the UNS regulator I have. First thing I noticed is the shear heaviness of the regulator. The most important part in my opinion is the connecting nut. Geez, you’d think UNS would use a substantial nut, nut Noooo! They use stupid aluminum for a high pressure connecting nut. That thing not only was destroyed on the outside but after a couple refills the threads inside started inverting. Yes, they started to bend into themselves because they are just soft. GLA Gro uses a nickel plated heavy duty nut that’s just solid as ever. Feels really good, but let’s move further. This needle valve is much nicer, better control that’s not all erratic with mild adjustments, it’s very precise. GLA is a level of their own and explains their notoriety. Go with GLA and not the replicas who try to follow what they do.

GLA makes the best co2 regulators.

Posted by Phillip Harper on 20th Sep 2024

This is my 2nd Gro regulator. My first was purchased in 2007, iI still use it in my living room aquascape. I got this one for my basement tank. These things are built like tanks. What I truly love about them is the needle valves easy tune ability. I don’t know what the correct verbiage is for this but in essence it’s super smooth at adjusting the co2 bubble rate, and it stays put from start to finish. One time my cat knocked over the whole system. The regulator didn’t flinch one bit, nothing broken like nothing happened at all. Impressive quality so you can buy with confidence. Fantastic customer service reps every time.

    We love it!

Posted by Emily Sykes on 17th Sep 2024

We love this regulator, such a vast improvement to the shitty Fzone regulator. Very heavy duty and only a few minutes to install. I did forget to order the GLA tubing but I ordered that and all was good!

Much nicer than their competitors I wish I came sooner to buy GLA.

Posted by Angie F. on 30th Aug 2024

Don’t settle for garbage because that’s what Fzone and Co2art are. My husband was absolutely livid spending money on them. We even argued about it because people talked up those brands. We started with the cheap one from fzone and my god you don’t even have to be experienced in co2 to know right away what poop the quality is. After only 2 months of fiddling we spent even more for Co2art. Wtf do people like about these becouse they are both the same garbage. GLA should figure a way for customers to post photos becouse I shit you not those brands are ripping people off. It’s like they are made of recycled Bud Light cans. They leaked and the bubble counters break off but more noticeable was the lack of fine tuning to the co2 bubble rate. They probably would have been better made out of wood ?. No kidding! Fast forward to now and geez GLA was an instant relief. Very high quality build with substantial weight. You feel the quality right away. Very very nice control of flow and rock steady. We are on our second cylinder refill and could not be more pleased. The ph controller we use from Apex shows us the level of stability via the graphs and GLA has it dialed in! Buy with confidence and go with GLA co2. Save your money!

    CO2 Regulator

Posted by Daniel on 23rd Aug 2024

I'll start by saying I owned a Milwaukee regulator which was well over 20 years old and gave me me problems from the very beginning. In my last move the glass bubble counter broke so I had the option of either replacing the bubble counter or going for something new. I opted for the latter and I'm very happy I did. This unit feels beefy and accurate. I made sure I snugged it up well and set it. That's it! It's doing its job for almost two months now and I've had zero issues. Highly recommended.

    The best!

Posted by Joshua Phillips on 20th Aug 2024

My 2nd Gro regulator for my basement system. I love these compact Gro regulators, stable like a dual stage regulator, more compact and the flow coefficient of the valve body is like no other. GLA always has the best valves.
