Description

GLA KH Booster – Raise Carbonate Hardness in RO/DI Water (1 lb Jar)

Aquarium Alkalinity Supplement for Freshwater Aquariums

GLA KH Booster is a potassium bicarbonate supplement designed to raise carbonate hardness (KH) in planted and freshwater aquariums. Ideal for RO/DI water or water with low alkalinity, it increases buffering capacity to help resist drops in pH.

KH Booster raises KH without adding calcium or magnesium or increasing general hardness (GH). Use it alongside GLA GH Booster when both adjustments are needed, dosing each product separately to achieve your aquarium’s desired water parameters.

Dosing & Instructions

Add 1.35 g per 10 US gallons of RO/DI water to raise KH by approximately 1 dKH.

Measure by weight using a gram scale. Dissolve the measured dose in replacement water and mix thoroughly. Test KH and pH before use, accounting for any alkalinity already present in your source water.

For water changes, calculate the dose using the volume of replacement water. Choose a KH target appropriate for your fish, shrimp, and plants, and avoid sudden changes in established aquariums. Increasing KH can raise pH; this product does not set or maintain a specific pH value.

Also Supplies Potassium

Potassium bicarbonate supplies potassium alongside alkalinity. Each approximately 1 dKH increase contributes about 14 ppm potassium. Account for this contribution when using other potassium-containing fertilizers, especially when making larger KH adjustments.

Includes

  • GLA KH Booster — 1 lb jar

Guaranteed Analysis

  • Soluble Potash (K2O): 45.7%
  • Potassium (K): 38%

Soluble potash and elemental potassium express the same potassium content in different forms; they are not separate nutrient amounts to add together.

Derived From

  • Potassium Bicarbonate (CAS 298-14-6)
