Description
GLA GRO Planted Aquarium CO2 System
The GLA GRO CO2 System provides a streamlined foundation for pressurized CO2 injection in planted aquariums. Built around the GLA GRO regulator platform, the system combines precision CO2 control, automatic operation, a refillable aluminum CO2 cylinder, and CO2-resistant tubing in one coordinated package.
Designed for clean installation and dependable long-term operation, the GRO System is an excellent choice for aquarists who want the essential pressurized CO2 components without the additional size or modular architecture of a dual-stage system. Each GLA GRO regulator is individually inspected, pressure tested, and leak checked in the USA prior to shipment.

- Planted aquariums using diffusers, inline atomizers, or CO2 reactors
The GRO System is not limited to a particular aquarium size. Appropriate CO2 delivery depends on plant demand, lighting, circulation, diffusion method, surface agitation, and overall system configuration.
For aquarists who prefer dual-stage pressure regulation or a modular manifold platform, GLA also offers complete CO2 systems built around the DS-Mini and PRO-DS regulator families.
Why Choose the GLA GRO CO2 System?
The GRO CO2 System combines the core components needed to establish a refillable pressurized CO2 setup while keeping the installation compact and straightforward.
- Coordinated CO2 Package: Regulator, refillable aluminum cylinder, CO2-resistant tubing, and tank seal included
- Compact Piston Platform: Streamlined configuration for clean, efficient installation
- Precision CO2 Adjustment: Fine-control needle valve allows careful tuning of CO2 output
- Automatic Operation: Integrated solenoid allows CO2 injection to be controlled by a timer or compatible controller
- Integrated Flow Monitoring: Bubble counter provides a convenient visual reference for CO2 delivery
- Backflow Protection: Integrated check valve helps protect the CO2 system from aquarium water backflow
- System Protection: Integrated pressure relief valve provides an additional level of protection
- Refillable Cylinder: Includes a 5 lb aluminum CGA-320 CO2 cylinder that can be filled locally
Precision Control & Automation
The GLA GRO combines a precision needle valve, electric solenoid, integrated working-pressure gauge, and bubble counter into a compact regulator assembly designed specifically for planted aquarium CO2 use.
The needle valve provides fine adjustment of CO2 flow, while the solenoid allows injection to be automatically coordinated with the aquarium photoperiod using a timer or compatible controller. The integrated working-pressure gauge provides a clear visual reference for regulator output pressure, and the bubble counter provides a convenient repeatable reference when tuning the system.
Bubble rate should be treated as an aquarium-specific reference rather than a universal measurement of dissolved CO2. Actual CO2 requirements vary with aquarium volume, plant mass, lighting, circulation, diffusion efficiency, and surface agitation.
Refillable 5 lb Aluminum CO2 Cylinder
The GRO CO2 System includes a refillable 5 lb aluminum CO2 cylinder with a standard CGA-320 connection. The cylinder ships empty and must be filled by a local CO2 or compressed-gas supplier before use.
One- and two-cylinder package options are available. Select the cylinder quantity that best fits your installation and CO2 supply needs when ordering.
Important: CO2 cylinders ship empty.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the GRO CO2 System include everything I need?
The system includes the regulator, refillable CO2 cylinder, CO2-resistant tubing, and tank seal. You will also need a compatible diffuser, inline atomizer, or CO2 reactor to introduce CO2 into the aquarium. The included cylinder must be filled locally before use. For added protection against backflow, we recommend using a compatible inline check valve in your CO2 installation.
Does the CO2 cylinder arrive filled?
No. CO2 cylinders ship empty and must be filled by a local CO2 or compressed-gas supplier before use.
Why are one- and two-cylinder options available?
The system can be ordered with either one or two 5 lb aluminum CO2 cylinders. Select the cylinder package that best fits your CO2 supply and installation needs.
Can the GRO CO2 System run more than one aquarium?
Yes. The standard system is configured for one aquarium, but the optional GLA GRO CO2 Splitter can be added to provide independently adjustable CO2 outlets for multiple aquariums. Operating additional aquariums will increase total CO2 consumption.
Can I use a diffuser, inline atomizer, or CO2 reactor?
Yes. The adjustable 0–70 PSI output allows the GRO to be configured with many planted aquarium CO2 delivery methods when operated within the pressure and flow requirements of the selected equipment.
What size aquarium can I use the GRO System on?
The regulator itself is not limited to a specific aquarium volume. Appropriate CO2 delivery depends on plant demand, lighting, circulation, diffusion method, surface agitation, and overall system configuration.
Is the GRO CO2 System suitable for beginners?
Yes. The GRO System provides a straightforward way to establish a refillable pressurized CO2 setup while retaining precise adjustment, automatic solenoid control, integrated pressure monitoring, and the component quality expected from GLA equipment.
Optional Multi-Aquarium Expansion
The GLA GRO CO2 System is designed primarily as a streamlined single-aquarium system but can be expanded using the optional GLA GRO CO2 Splitter.
Each splitter outlet includes its own precision needle valve, allowing CO2 flow to be adjusted independently for each connected aquarium.
- Expand one GRO regulator to multiple aquariums
- Independent CO2 adjustment for each outlet
- Direct compatibility with the GLA GRO regulator platform
- Compact expansion without replacing the regulator
Choosing the Right GLA CO2 Platform
The GLA GRO is our streamlined piston platform for aquarists seeking compact, precise CO2 control. The DS-Mini combines dual-stage pressure regulation with a compact modular design, while the PRO-DS is our full-size dual-stage platform with expanded pressure range, dual-gauge instrumentation, and modular configuration options.
The GRO CO2 System packages the GRO regulator with a refillable aluminum CO2 cylinder and CO2-resistant tubing, providing a convenient foundation for a complete planted aquarium CO2 installation.

GLA co2 systems unquestionably the way to go.
Long time customer of GLA and own a variety of co2 systems. I’ve had this kit 11 months now and it’s been terrific, absolutely problem free. I personally just started using mine without the bubble counter. It’s cool needle valve is designed to also accept a direct tubing attachment. My bubble rate is far to high to use a bubble counter so this really appealed to me. This system will outlast my lifetime and my family’s for that matter.
-
Huge upgrade!
Such a blessing, replacing my old system of several years and things have been growing really well. I dont have to fool with it any. I plugged ours into our bluetooth timer system and I can control the co2 with my phone! How cool is that?!
