Description

GLA GH & KH Booster Kit – Nature Aquarium RO/DI Water Remineralization (Jars)

Adjust General Hardness & Alkalinity Separately

The GLA GH + KH Booster Kit pairs two aquarium supplements for preparing RO/DI water or adjusting soft water in planted and freshwater aquariums. GH Booster supplies calcium and magnesium to raise general hardness, while KH Booster supplies potassium bicarbonate to raise carbonate hardness and increase alkalinity.

Packaged in separate jars, each product can be measured independently to match your aquarium’s needs. This kit is ideal for aquariums that require both GH and KH supplementation.

What Each Booster Does

  • GH Booster: Supplies calcium, magnesium, and sulfur in sulfate form. Raises general hardness (GH) without adding carbonate hardness (KH).
  • KH Booster: Raises carbonate hardness (KH) and increases buffering capacity to help resist drops in pH. Also supplies potassium without increasing GH.

Dosing & Instructions

  • GH Booster: Add 4.2 g per 10 US gallons of RO/DI water to raise GH by approximately 3 dGH.
  • KH Booster: Add 1.35 g per 10 US gallons of RO/DI water to raise KH by approximately 1 dKH.

Dose each product independently according to your desired GH and KH increases. The amounts above are reference doses, not a required dosing ratio.

Measure by weight using a gram scale. Add each product separately to replacement water with thorough stirring or circulation, allowing time for the minerals to dissolve. Calcium sulfate in GH Booster dissolves more slowly than the other ingredients.

Test GH, KH, and pH before use. For water changes, calculate doses using the volume of replacement water and account for any existing hardness or alkalinity. Choose targets appropriate for your fish, shrimp, and plants, and avoid sudden changes in established aquariums.

Potassium Contribution & pH

Each approximately 1 dKH increase from KH Booster contributes about 14 ppm potassium. Account for this contribution when using other potassium-containing fertilizers, especially when making larger KH adjustments.

Increasing KH can raise pH, but KH Booster does not set or maintain a specific pH value. For aquariums intentionally maintained at very low KH, use GH Booster as needed and add KH Booster only if your target parameters require it.
