GLA Natural Black Lava

Our natural black crushed lava rock offers a variety of benefits for the planted tank environment. Milled to the perfect size to accommodate any plant, the crushed lava provides easy planting and increased surface habitat for growth of beneficial bacteria. Lava rock is extremely porous, suitable to host aerobic and anaerobic bacteria colonies in its micro pores. You can also use lava rocks as a foundation to build up your soil substrate, a base layer to help your carefully manicured substrate slopes maintain their shape into the future. Crushed lava also works extremely well as filter media in a canister filter, hang-on-back, or even in your sump.

Lava rock has been pre-rinsed, but it is recommended to rinse prior to use as dust may have accumulated and product crumbles slightly during transport.
