Hygrophila Compacta is a horticulture variety which grows with it's leaves set close to the stalk, short internodes; forms numerous side shoots. Leaves are dark brownish-green when grown emersed, changing to light green with silver-white underneath in the aquarium. Leaves are arranged in tufts with very short internodes. Under bright light the leaves will have a slight brown hue. Position in foreground to midground in the tank; can grow to 10 cm in height. Propagate from cuttings.
