Anubias Barteri 'Broad Leaf' (Anubias barteri v. 'Round Leaf')

In its natural habitat, Anubias barteri is commonly found in shaded to semi shaded locations in fast flowing rivers and streams, swamps and bogs, in southeastern West Africa. It is often found growing emersed or semi-emersed on large stones or logs, rarely in substrate, and rarely fully submersed.

Anubias barteri is highly tolerant to a variety of growing conditions, including poor conditions, making it easy and ideal for beginners. Produces flowers. Higher lighting conditions and CO2 promote faster and larger growth. Water flow over the leaves is encouraged for best growth, especially under high light tank, to inhibit spot algae growth. Higher phosphate levels may help reduce spot algae in intense light tanks. Propagation performed by cutting rhizome, especially at locations where a side shoot has formed. Not recommended to cover rhizome when planted, to avoid rot. Easily fasten to driftwood or rock, with fishing line or thread.
